Food Safety, Nutrition, and Health Program Area

The Food Safety, Nutrition, and Health (FSNH) program area of the AFRI Foundational and Applied Science Program was established to provide the scientific foundation for addressing public demands for safe and nutritious foods, using a transdisciplinary approach, and to define previously unrealized opportunities for improving food safety, quality and nutrition along the value chain.

Agriculture Economics and Rural Communities Program Area

Agriculture Economics and Rural Communities (AERC) is a program area of the Agriculture and Food Research Initiative's (AFRI) Foundational Program. Challenges facing the agricultural sector and rural communities, the production and consumption of food, and management of natural resources and the environment continue to evolve. Given the opportunities and challenges, the primary goal of the AERC program is to promote economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable agriculture and resilient rural communities.

The AFRI Foundational and Applied Science Program focuses on building a foundation of fundamental and applied knowledge in food and agricultural sciences critical for solving current and future societal challenges.
